Personal Statement

My name is Daniel Owens, and I’m a Class of 2026 defensive lineman from Bettendorf High School in Bettendorf, Iowa. I’m 6'2", 230 lbs, and have been focused on building strength, speed, and technique to take my game to the next level.

It’s been my dream for as long as I can remember to play football at the college level. I’m committed to doing the work, on the field, in the weight room, and in the classroom, to make that dream a reality. I’ve put on over 30 pounds of muscle since last season and recently hit personal bests like a 4.87 40-yard dash and 365 x 3 on front squat. I bring effort, toughness, and a team-first mentality to every opportunity I get.

Off the field, I’m grounded in faith, family, and strong character. I ended last term with a 3.75 GPA and currently hold a 3.02 cumulative GPA, and I’m continuing to push myself academically. I’m someone who shows up, leads by example. I’m looking for a college program where I can continue to grow as an athlete and a person, contribute to a strong team culture, and represent my team and school with pride.
