Personal Statement

My name is Shay Ragland and I aspire to be a collegiate football athlete and my goal is to get a good education as I compete at the collegiate level. I feel I would be a good candidate for any collegiate program because I am driven, have good work ethic, have a positive attitude, I am a leader, and my desire to always be successful will make me a good choice for any collegiate program. What makes me different from other recruits regarding my character is my mental toughness, and my desire to take any situation and make it into something positive. This character trait has allowed me to earn the respect of my teammates and coaches. What makes me different from other recruits regarding my athletics is with my small frame, I play with a level of strength and energy that always seems to amaze my teammates and coaches. My understanding of the offense without a copy of a playbook, and my ability to make sure the offense is always lined up and ready to go allows my teammates and coaches to have the highest level of confidence in me as a leader on my team. What makes me different from other recruits regarding my academics is my ability to obtain straight A's in all of my classes. I am also taking several honors classes, and I plan to take AP classes starting in my sophomore year. Right now, my overall GPA for my freshman year has me as one of the top 6 students for the entire freshman class, and my GPA is #1 when compared to my JV teammates.
