Personal Statement
I have been playing football since I was six years old. During that time, I have built an unbridled passion for the sport. I have spent hours learning different techniques of playing. I am constantly trying to learn the best way to play the sport. I aspire to build my skills in every possible way so that I can have a college career and possibly continue further. I want to learn best methods so that I can protect my body and play longer.
As an athlete, I have achieved several honors. I qualified for the All-American Bowl two years and my team won both years. . In 2021, I also ran track in the 4x200 relay and threw both shot put and discus. I won first place in discus at the regional playoffs. In the 4x 200 relay, my relay team won first place in regionals. At the final sectional of the year, I broke the school record in discus with a throw of 124’7”. Covid prevented a state playoff from being held during the 2021 school year. During my freshman year at Collinsville High School, I started as a second string JV defensive end at my first game and by the next game I was a starter on both offense and defense and the JV long snapper. I also was chosen as one of two freshmen to dress varsity and have played in five regular season games as a varsity player, as defensive end and long snapper. We are also entering the playoffs as a team for the first time since 2010.
My goal at this time is to be a PE teacher and football coach to inspire athletes as my coaches have inspired me. Prior to 8th grade, I was homeschooled for my educational career, which set me up for a great ability to adapt to new situations and be self-initiated. When many students struggled to adapt to new learning situations in the 2020-2021 school year, I excelled because I had experience learning in this manner. However, when I transitioned to full in-person learning, I excelled at that as well. I am adaptable and able to adjust to new situations easily.
As a college player, I will be an asset to any team as I am a team leader and a team player. I understand that above all else, seeing the team successful is the greatest mission, not my personal glory. I have been described by my teachers as respectful and by coaches as an awesome asset to any team. I understand that above all else character matters and my relationship with Jesus Christ is first place in my life. I see Tim Tebow as my example in his ability to use his position to elevate Jesus higher through his years of playing football.
