Personal Statement
After completing high school it is my intention to go to a university and obtain my degree. I am young and unsure of want I want to study. However, I understand a college degree can make many futures a reality. I aspire to be a role model for my team, my community, other young athletes. I want those that follow me to understand any dream is reachable with hard work. I want my sister to grow into her own sport the way I am growing into mine. I want to display that without setbacks and "failures", there can be no grow and no success.
I feel that I am as good of a candidate as any for the programs I might thrive to be a part of because I feel that I am a well rounded student athlete, that stand by my morals, ethics, and values both on and off the field. First, my parents have taught me that school comes first always. Without school, my football dreams would be a difficult reality. I am always challenging myself in the classroom by taking difficult classes, and a full academic load. I have been able to maintain a 3.5 GPA while playing sports and practicing 6 days a week, as well as additionally holding part-time employment. I maintain good relationships with my teachers as I will often discuss with them the topics I may not fully understand, and I feel that they appreciate my willingness to learn the topics that were discussed.
Next I am a student of the game. I watch and learn in practice, study the upperclassman that also play these positions and often time watch film on the way home from the most recent game. I know and feel you can never stop learning and improving your "own game". I then take what I see on the film that never lies, so I can continue to develop my skills for my position in order to better my teams position as a whole. I continuously watch videos of high level college offensive lineman techniques and try to implement those techniques into my game. In addition I attempt to attend lineman camps of schools I am interested in order to network with coaches and players from across the country.
In my community, I act as though as I am always being watched. I am growing up in a small town where it is difficult to go anywhere without knowing somebody. I never want to present myself in a manner that would embarrass my hometown, my parents, or myself. I feel like I am a leader among my peers and am not afraid to speak out when they are acting in a way that may bring negative attention to ourselves, our team, or our school.
I feel I am different from other recruits because I am extremely thankful that you, as a coach, are taking the time to learn about me and possibly considering me as a student athlete in your program. Without coaches like you and programs like yours I may not be able to be a student and a football player, I may not be able to have the best of both worlds during my college years. So, Thank you in advance.
