Personal Statement
Zachary Rosenberg – Your “Must Have” Lacrosse Goalie
Being a lacrosse goalie creates an adrenaline rush like nothing else I have ever experienced. I thrive off the pressure of being the final line of defense. I have many responsibilities to my teammates all equally important – stop the ball at all costs, quarterback the defense ensuring everyone is in position and understands their assignments, be the vocal leader of the defense, be an enthusiastic emotional team leader, be unflappable, and start the transition once I make the save. My grit and determination fuel the whole team with positive energy.
Lacrosse is my passion. The sport is incredibly fast paced with high energy. The game is played at a speed unlike any other sport. Milliseconds make a difference in this sport. It is controlled craziness. It is a combination of hockey, soccer and football rolled up into one. All 10 of us have to work together as one to be the most efficient unit on the field. To be a winning team, this concept cannot be compromised. I take my responsibility on the team very seriously as I know we all play a pivotal role.
I have to be respected by my teammates and coaches as well as respectful of them. I have to be the hardest working person on my team and the best at my craft because I know that the next person up wants my job. It is with this attitude that I tackle everything I do. I realize that much of what I do on the lacrosse field will follow me throughout life. In the workplace I have to be the best and hardest working professional, a master at my craft and the go-to guy in order to move up. At the same time, I have to be likeable and collaborative and I have to earn the respect of others as they do of me. Once I move up the chain, I have to lead and develop my colleagues the same way I do on the lacrosse field.
I look forward to playing lacrosse in college. Coach, I will be the best decision you ever made!
Thank you for your consideration,
Zachary Rosenberg
