Iona VB Completes Reverse Sweep vs. Canisius; Clinches MAAC Championship Berth
A Canisius serve error and back-to-back kills by DeGuzman led to the Gaels completing the reverse sweep comeback. SET 5: IONA 16, CANISIUS 14. DeGuzman posted a 12-kill, 22 dig double-double. The dig total was a career-high for the first-year performer.

Personal Statement

I’m Avianna DeGuzman, a sophomore (Class of 2027) currently in the NCAA Transfer Portal with two years of eligibility remaining. I currently play at Iona University, where I have gained experience in multiple roles, including Libero, Defensive Specialist, and Outside Hitter. I am a well-rounded, six-rotation player who loves both offense and defense. Off the court, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I am passionate about contributing to a competitive program that values hard work, versatility, and a team-first mentality.

Academically, I maintain a 3.8 GPA and completed my fall semester with straight A’s and have been on the Dean's List for the past 2 years. I am majoring in Media Communications with a minor in Sports Business, aspiring to pursue a career in sports broadcasting after my volleyball journey.

  • Serve Receive: 2.08 passing average on 382 attempts, with a 44.8% GP and 22.8% FBSO.
  • Defense: 243 digs, 76.4% dig percentage, with a season-high 24 digs vs. Bryant.

  • Played 79 sets.
  • Recorded 150 kills on 598 attempts, with a season-high 14 kills vs. Quinnipiac.
