Personal Statement

Hello Coach,

My name is Matthew DeHart, and I am a student- athlete in the class of 2023. A student-athlete, is exactly what I am. I recognize that talents and abilities that I have been blessed with are a gift and can be taken away at any moment. Everday, I strive to use my talents in a good way on and off the field. I recognize that my actions have an impact on people that are even greater than myself. When I come home after practice and school, I see my 5 younger brothers looking up to me and recognize that I have the opportunity to lead them in the right direction.  An important part of being a quarterback is being a leader even when things aren't easy. While I am trying to reach my dream of playing college football, I recognize that there are more important factors in life such as family, character, and academics. An opportunity to attend your program would not only give me the opportunity to better myself as a football player, but also better myself as a man. If given an opportunity, I vow to uphold the standards of your university and better myself, my teammates, and my community.
