Personal Statement
Obviously, my main reason for going to college is for academic purposes. I want to be able to learn more about myself and what I want to do as a career through a higher education. Even though going to college is for academic purposes, I still want to participate in a sport I have grown to love. Over the years, I have realized that I love field hockey in two different ways. The first, is being able to represent my school, my coaches, and my teammates through hard work on the field. The second is I love to be able to help others improve their skill whether that be my teammates now, or the youth participating in our recreational leagues.
As a teammate, I look for moments to get better. By improving my skill, I help improve everyone's skill around by challenging them. In a team, I look for the people who are pushing themselves, trying new things in order to improve, and doing things that benefit the team. I try to match them because it is what will make me and my team better. As a player, I am ready to improve my skill at any time, and my coaches, teammates, and parents feedback allow me to do just that. One thing I learned I value is everyone giving their very best. When players around me push themselves, it makes me push myself to match their intensity, whether that be in games or practices. For me the end goal is to say that we did our very best and that we did better than the last time. By improving my skill on the field, it helps me learn new things about myself as a person. I want to continue this kind of growth beyond high school with new people, which is why I want to make an impact on a team.
