Personal Statement

Hello! My name is Ryleigh Pittman, and I am a Senior at Monte Vista High School in San Diego, California. For my academic classes I am currently taking AP Economics, AP Literature, AP Psychology, and Spanish. I was introduced to volleyball during my Freshman  year and I now play as a starting outside hitter on our girls Varsity volleyball team. I am also playing club volleyball at Storm Volleyball Club. The only sport I've played before going into high school was soccer, but volleyball quickly became a prominent new passion. Since I have been playing soccer non-stop since I was five, athleticism is something that comes to me pretty naturally, as well as a driven, determined mindset to succeed and perform to my best ability. I work extremely hard to improve and bring a positive energy to the team on and off the court. My long term goal is to receive an athletic scholarship for playing volleyball to help me financially, as well as give me the opportunity to play volleyball in college! Although I am not yet sure about what career I wish to pursue, I am considering college majors such as Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Science, Journalism and Media Production, Communications, Sports Medicine, and Egyptian Studies.
