  • 2019 CIL Gold (Colorado Instructional League)
(17U / 18U) Nate Nejedlo Pro-Day results from July 23 showed college Division I prospect. Surprising running speed shown with 7.0 x 60 times and 3.9 x 30 times...above average times for a catcher. Pop times from behind the plate were strong in the 1.90-1.95 range. Shows draftable arm with quick transfer and release, working on driving forward and alignment for more consistency. Hitting skills show raw tools and improved production...85-87 MPH bat exit speed, with some loop at times, but bat path is improved with LD power to the gaps. Division I catching prospect... with continued work will be a draft follow for 2021. Coach Al Bleser

Personal Statement

My faith in God is very important to me.  It is a part of me that goes with me each time I take the field.  At the plate, whether I’m at bat or getting ready to catch that first pitch, I scratch the sign of the cross in the dirt to remind myself of WHO has given me the talent to play this great game.  As far back as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a catcher.  At two years old, I received my first catcher’s mask from my Aunt Nana. My mom tells the story of me being at my cousin’s baseball games crouching down behind the backstop to imitate the catcher before every pitch.  I would even wear my mask to Rockies games as my dad wheeled me into Coors Field.  The fans loved it!

One thing I can say about myself is that I’m not afraid to take a risk on the field.  As a young freshman catcher starting on varsity, I was not intimidated by the upperclassmen and was not hesitant to pop up and attempt to back pick a runner at first if I thought I could get him.

The game of baseball has taught me that things don’t always go your way; and how you respond to adversity affects how you play.  That’s why I try to have a short memory on the field.  I know that I can’t dwell on what goes wrong but must focus on the challenges ahead. I’ve learned to never give up no matter what the score or how many mistakes I’ve made.  I am confident in my skills and know that I can be a difference maker if given the opportunity.
