Personal Statement
Hi! I'm Elsa. I'm a Junior from Portland, Oregon. I'm a DS/Libero for the Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy (OJVA) 16-1 Gold team. I also am co-captain and floor captain of my high school team at Catlin Gabel, where I am an outside hitter. At Catlin Gabel, I also have a GPA of 4.04 out of 4.0 and I am interested in studying neuroscience or psychology in college.
I started playing volleyball in 4th grade, and I was actually a competitive rock climber at the time. I immediately fell in love with volleyball, and after two years of playing both sports, I turned my complete attention to volleyball. I thrive on the competitiveness and have honed my court awareness over the years. I have a strong ability to read and anticipate where the ball is going. I am extremely passionate about being a great communicator on and off the court, and I love connecting with other people through this sport.
Outside of volleyball and school, I volunteer at the Oregon Human Society and compete on my high school's mock trial team. In my free time, I also love playing with my puppy, reading mystery books, and watching survivor.
