Personal Statement
I love the indoor game of Volleyball. Not only do I just love playing, but the being part of a team, working hard in the off season to better my game, and challenging myself academically so that I can play at the next level.
Honestly, volleyball is the only sport I participate in. Since I was in the 5th grade, I knew… I only wanted to play volleyball. So, I made the choice to play year-round in HS varsity volleyball, club volleyball, and beach volleyball. Luckily, my parents (who aren’t made of money) supported me and have made it possible for me to play the game. They’ve also pushed me hard to get good grades, take extra college course, and to be an upstanding citizen/leader in my community.
I understand volleyball is a team sport, and it’s almost like an intricate dance when played right. There is nothing like a team with synergy and the adrenaline rush you get when your team is playing that game, everyone playing their hearts outs for the win. I want to be part of a team that has fellow teammates that are there because they LOVE the game as well.
I love this game so much that I have committed to the next step of taking extra time off the court to better my mental and physical game. I understand that I need to have a good nutrition plan, condition, review video footage, never stop learning the game, and of course always listen to my coaches.
I try my best to make very few errors, and pride myself on that. I have worked so very hard throughout my years playing volleyball to increase my vertical, be more accurate with my hits, sets, serves, and passes. I know that practice makes perfect, and although I may not be the tallest, fastest, or strongest player on the court; I strive to be the smartest player by, understanding the fast pace of the game, utilizing my muscle memory, court player/awareness, and by learning my opponent’s weaknesses to capitalize to fullest of my abilities. I believe this is why so many parents, coaches, officials, and players have complimented me with the nickname of “clutch”.
While I have played outside hitter these last few years, I understand my height and vertical might prevent me from playing that position at the next level. That is why I have played every single position and think of myself as a universal player. I can adapt to whatever the right team needs me to be. Honestly, I have always just played whatever the coach needed me to play and have no issues being a team player.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, and if you think I would be a good student athlete for your team, please feel free to reach out to me! I’m ready for this next level of commitment.
