Personal Statement

November 28th, 2000, I was born with Andre Agassi playing on TV. Ever since my dad introduced me to the sport, I have devoted thousands of hours to perfect my craft through practice which would lead up to semi-pro and national tournaments. I traveled across the United States to chase my dream of becoming one of the best. My freshman and the beginning of my sophomore year I participated in high school tennis, competing for the state title. Then, halfway through my sophomore year my father informed me that he was receiving a promotion to work at SHAPE NATO base in Mons, Belgium. He told my little brother, my mom and I that we would be moving in a few short months and should begin packing our things. I was scared not only for my tennis career and how I would not be able to compete in the state tournament, but I also worried about this huge change, as it was my first time moving away from my home town of Puyallup, Washington. Because of this change, I became well rounded, accustomed to other cultures and perspectives. Through hard work and dedication I became a leader on SHAPE's high school tennis team.

I have lived overseas for over two years which has given me the opportunity to gain a unique skill set. I am surrounded by many nationalities at once and have gained a multicultural perspective. I am flexible and easily adjust to new surroundings since living in Europe. I am independent yet am able to make friends and work in groups with efficiency. I have traveled throughout Europe and thus broadened my horizons. I would be a good addition to any college tennis team as I bring many unique skills and a multitude of obtained perspectives.

Not only have I gained life experience while living in Europe, but I have also continued to devote my time to not only the court, but also the classroom. Throughout my high school career I have set high expectations for myself and have always been an honor roll student. I currently have a 3.9 cumulative GPA and have always put my studies before sports.

I hope to find the right fit college for me to not only continue my tennis career, but also continue my education as I plan to obtain a masters degree in criminology.
