Personal Statement
At the beginning of my sophomore year I was 210 pounds, and after a year of hardwork and dedication in the gym I am now 250 pounds. This weight gain has benefited me as a defensive end and allows me to overpower offensive linemen on the field and also goes to show my dedication in the gym.
Personally, I believe that my dedication and work ethic causes me different from others on and off the field. My level of dedication allows me to be unstoppable in the classroom and on the field. Over the past year, my dedication has shown, and in our head coach’s thirty years of coaching, he said “Adin, you have had one of the best off season improvements and put up some of the best numbers in the weight room.” The summer of 2018, on the bench press, I was able to rep out 225 pounds for 18 times (most in my coach’s career), a max bench for 365 pounds, and a of max squat for 500 pounds. During my junior year, many considered me as an unstoppable force, causing teams to game plan against me. This resulted in double teams and plays to be run away from me. As a defensive end, I am fast off the line which makes it difficult to block me off the edge and my strength is a key factor in stopping run plays before they develop. This can be seen in my statistics for the year, as I led our team in tackles for loss with 14. In addition to being a run stopper, I am also a good pass rusher which can be accounted for with also leading the team in the total sacks of 5 1/2 and quarterback pressures of 49. By causing pressure, I constantly made the quarterback uncomfortable in the pocket, which led to numerous interceptions.
