Personal Statement
I love football with all my heart and have been playing since I was five years old.
Since I grew up in a college town, my first role models were the student athletes who I watched play university football and basketball. They were larger than life to me, and through their example I learned so much about what it means to be a team player, and how to win or concede with grace. They always knew we little kids were watching, and they took the time to be good examples for us. That opportunity to learn from each of them still shapes the man I am becoming. I want to play college football because now I’m eager for the opportunity to pay it forward and contribute to the next generation of college athletes.
A rising junior at Spotswood High School, I have lettered in two sports and been named a scholar-athlete three out of four semesters. Tenth grade was my first year on the varsity team, and I saw time at WR and safety. I continue to work each off-season to improve my speed, strength, and agility, never miss an opportunity to hit the weight room, and I give it my all and then some in practice. I don’t do all of this just because I want to be the best athlete I can be; I do it because playing football on a team is an opportunity and a gift that I do not take for granted. My hard work every day on the field and off is inspired by and out of respect for my teammates and my coaches. My coaches always provide positive feedback on my leadership, how I help other players develop, and my high football IQ.
My academic interests are pretty broad and include history, business, and biology. Though I am not completely decided on a major for college, I am considering law or wildlife management as a career. My absolute dream job would be to work as an athletic director for a college or university or to be a general manager of a football team.
