Personal Statement
Personal Statement
My name is Alexandria Bucy, but to make things easier for everyone, I go by Lexi. I am currently 17 years old and in the 11th grade. Some things that have impacted me and have shaped me into the person I am today include my wonderful family, friends, and coaches. My mom and dad have raised my younger sister and I in both the Greek Orthodox church along with the Greek culture. Due to this, I hold faith, family, friends, hospitality, and culture close to my heart. Most of my life, I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada but recently I moved to Henderson, Nevada which allowed me to change to both a new school and house. Through this experience, I have been given many great opportunities such as playing varsity volleyball for a great program that not only reignited my passion for the sport, but also taught me how to be a stronger, tougher athlete both mentally and physically. Moving further from my closest friends and attending a new high school has taught me how to grow and adapt to new surroundings, people, and new way of life.
Now onto the sport I respect so much. I fell in love with volleyball when I was about 11 years old and have been playing it ever since. I started playing at the club level my 6th grade year and have played on club, school, and church volleyball teams. This sport has taught me teamwork, commitment, and hard work. What you learn on the court not only helps you become a better player, but also a better person. Some goals I have put in place for myself in regards to “in the classroom” include receiving good grades and putting forth a hard work ethic throughout high school into college and towards the professional workforce one day. If I could describe myself, I would say I am a genuine person with a kind heart, one that does every job the best to my abilities, outgoing, personable, as well as responsible.
