Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is Taj Johnson. I'm a member of the class of 2022.  I attend Del Valle High School in Del Valle, TX where my weighted GPA is a 4.0 and my cumulative is a 3.5.  I stand at 6 feet tall and weigh 215 pounds. I'm a high-motor linebacker that plays well in space.  I have a very high football IQ and enjoy calling defensive plays.  I am an honest, hard-working, dedicated, and determined leader that is looking for a scholarship opportunity to play at a university that will allow me to the play the game that I love while earning a degree in the Engineering field in either Robotics or Software (Cyber Security).  My long-term dream is to play professional football in the NFL!

I'm proud of my accomplishment of earning an honorable mention as a Linebacker in the  All District 26-6A division my first year playing varsity.  I came off the bench that year which exemplifies my tenacity and shows my love for the game! I am also a team captain and enjoy leading and "rallying the troops".   Although the season isn't over yet, I'm proud of the work that I've put in thus far as I had many challenges and adversity that comes with playing my senior year under an entirely new coaching staff.     

I am also a versatile player.  When needed, I have played as the Defensive Edge Rusher and also on Special Teams.  I  am a team player that is disciplined and my work ethic and commitment are just a few of the 5-star characteristics  that I exhibit both on and off the field.  I am also focused on my academics, so you will not have to worry about my off the field behaviors.
