Personal Statement

My goal is to study sports management in college combining my favorite sport (baseball) and my favorite subject (business). 

I have taken business classes and have been a member of DECA throughout my three years of high school. My DECA partner and I have qualified to compete in Sports & Entertainment Marketing at the state level during two of those years. We got to compete against other students across Washington. These experiences and what I’ve learned throughout my three years of business class make me excited to continue learning at the next level.

Like most baseball players with aspirations of playing in college, I have been in love with the game ever since I learned to walk. I began playing when I was four years old and joined my first club team when I was eight. Beyond my love of playing, I have always been obsessed with the game itself. The stats. The players. The strategy. As an example, when I was 11, I saved enough money to buy a Sony PlayStation because it was the only gaming console that “MLB The Show” was available. It may be hard to believe, but my favorite part of “MLB The Show” was not actually playing games. It was creating players, studying stats, and building teams. 

Intrigue and knowledge of baseball have helped me succeed and will continue to make me an even better player. I have never thrown the hardest, but my comprehension of the game and pitch strategy has always been above par. This has driven me to work hard on my command and to develop three solid off-speed pitches. 

My goal is to pitch at the next level and contribute to the success of a college baseball team in any way I can whether that is on the mound, in the dugout, or helping teammates think through game strategy.
