Personal Statement
Not making it into the state championship tournament all four years of my high school career was one of the biggest downfalls, but without the upsets I would not be the player I am today. I have learned a lot from being a student-athlete, self-control being one of the major things. This not only played a role in my school work but also on the court. The experience of not qualifying as a team for the state tournament taught me self-discipline which is needed especially being the team captain. I focused in on fulfilling my role on the court while encouraging and helping my other teammates to do the same. With this new mindset I felt even more capable of taking my volleyball career to the collegiate level.
Although my team as a whole didn't qualify for very many awards, I personally did making it a personal goal for myself to qualify for an All-League award. My experience of being team captain was filled with lots of lessons. I learned the importance of teamwork, dedication, and leadership through the connection I made with teammates. I am looking for a school that will be a good fit for me athletically but more than anything academically. I believe that I have the qualities that it takes to be leader on your team and a role model for your school. My character and diligence make me a good candidate for your program.
