Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Alvaro Betancourt. I am a junior at Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I started playing soccer when I was 8 years old. The position I play is center midfield. My all time dream is to play soccer in college. Some of my achievements playing soccer are that I made the U-15 National Team, when I was 13 years old and that I won MVP in a tournament in Agropolis, Italy, when I was Captain of my U-12 team. I first started playing in Fraigcomar Soccer Club, U-8, until I was 15 years old, playing in the U-17 category. I was always Captain of the team. I consider myself a very dedicated athlete, always arriving early at practices and games. I have very good relationship with my teammates and with players of other clubs, in and out of games. That is why I think a have made Captain many times. Also my coaches say I am very respectful and serious in my game. I am now 16 years old, I play in school since 7th grade. And play in a private club as well. I play for the Puerto Rico High Performance Soccer Academy Club,U-17 and amateur 2nd division, and for San Ignacio de Loyola High school. I am also in the track and field team at my school, and in the last 2010 nationals I made 2nd in 200 meters. This year I was approached by the San Juan Municipality coach to train with him. I will like very much to be on a division 1 soccer team. I have always been a dedicated student, my GPA is 3.6 average. I will like to give you some characteristics of my game, that I know I am good at, for example, I have very good control at the ball, movement of the ball and creativity. I always look for ball possession and controlling the middle. I am skillful with the right leg as well as with the left. I think I play with intelligence, that is what people say a lot about me. I would appreciate immensely if you would give me the opportunity to try out for your team. I am certain that I could be a great team member, dedicated athlete and good student.
