Personal Statement

I found field hockey as a middle school elective and it's become my goal to play in college one day. I have been playing for nine seasons on professional field hockey turf and grass with the Moorpark Coyotes Club. In 2016, 17, 18, & 19 I competed in the international CAL CUP tournaments here at Moorpark College in Moorpark, CA. Aside from club, I also train twice a week with the Ventura County Red Devils advanced training program, Coach Shawn Nakamura (Former USA National Team Captain). Also, I regularly have 1 on 1 training with Paul Singh, forward for the Men's National Team. 2018 Futures Program SITE 11 K West Coast, Moorpark Coyotes travel team, and selected for the U14 2018 National Futures Championship (NFC). I play in many local tournaments and all of the California college 6's & 7's tournaments with our Moorpark Coyotes travel team at Berkeley, Davis, Pacific & Stanford. National tourneys - Disney Showcase and Festival. Played all positions including goalie for my club. My favorite is midfield and defense but I often fill in as forward wherever my coaches need me. Always excited to accept new roles and responsibilities. My favorite thing about field hockey is the communication with my fellow teammates in setting up plays. I love school and am involved in various AVID leadership programs and enrolled in Health Science Academy.  Recently played all positions #57 with U16 San Jose Fly @2019 National Hockey Festival in Tampa, FL Nov 28, 2019 - Nov 30, 2019. I will be at Disney Showcase again this year playing for Coach Taylor Swezey of Harvard Westlake, CA. Team name is WC Riptide/Jersey #25. Many of my highlights are on my Instagram - @spiketolman
