Personal Statement
Although I play three different varsity sports in high school, football is my passion. From my first time playing the sport at a young age, I knew I wanted to pursue it at the collegiate level. Football has given me so much, from the camaraderie with my teammates to the physicality, hard work, and sacrifice it demands. I have worked hard at becoming a better player by seeking out more challenging opportunities in the sport. For example, I played for the best Pop Warner team in Florida that finished second at the national championships. I also attend Clearwater Central Catholic because I believe their rigorous academic and football programs will get me to the next level. In addition to football, I also play lacrosse and hockey during the offseason so that I can grow as an athlete in different sports. Although I play these other sports, I understand the importance of time management and still participate in offseason football workouts like weight lifting and conditioning. I also participate in a seven on seven league during the spring in order to improve my all around performance.
While I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity, I also realize that it is a gift that should not be taken advantage of. When I was in second, third and fourth grade, I lived in Kyiv, Ukraine, and saw first hand the opportunities that children that live outside the United States do not have. While my childhood friends in Ukraine continue to struggle, I learned to never take anything for granted and to work at becoming the best version of myself athletically, academically, and socially. I am enrolled in all honor courses at Clearwater Central Catholic and volunteer at a children's shelter during my free time. I also was an Altar Server at my local church during my middle school and freshman year of high school. I understand that in order to improve, I have to achieve a balance between my athletics, academics, and extracurricular activities. I will continue to sharpen and develop my skills in these areas in order not to waste what opportunities that I have been given.
