Personal Statement
If softball has taught me anything, it is that mistakes are learning opportunities, and applying what I have learned from those mistakes is what has made me a great player. Anytime I make a mistake, I choose to not dwell on it. Instead, I learn from my mistake, and the next opportunity I get, I apply what I have learned so I won't make the same mistake again. My parents have instilled this value in me, and they have supported me through everything to get to the point I am at now. In the 10 years that I have played softball, I have learned the value of hard work, leadership, and communication. During my first year of high school softball, I have proven myself as a versatile player, as I have started at every infield position except pitcher based on my team's needs. Though I started at third base for most games, my coach trusts me to play at every infield position because of my athleticism and knowledge of the game. Many of these positions were new to me, as I played middle infield for my club team. As a student of the game, I am not afraid to ask questions, and I am always looking for input from my coaches to help me learn and excel. Through my 13 years of gymnastics and 10 years of softball, I have grown as an athlete. This experience has taught me the importance of doing what is best for the team and not just myself.
My persistence, dedication, and leadership are values that make an impact on my team. I am always the first person on the field, and the last person to leave. I have been the captain of my club team for the past 2 years. I find it important to ask questions and understand the mental aspect of the game as well as the physical. I am looking for a program that is a good fit for me both athletically as well as academically. I have completed my freshman year taking honors classes, and I have an unweighted GPA of 4.0. I believe that my leadership, work-ethic, and cooperation make me a valuable addition to your program.
