Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Kalyn Freund, and I’m a student-athlete in the Class of 2027 at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, PA. Volleyball is my main sport, and I’ve been passionate about it since I started playing 6 years ago. I’ve been on my high school’s varsity team since freshman year and currently serve as the captain of my national club volleyball team. I also compete in other varsity sports, but volleyball has always been where I put most of my focus.

Academically, I challenge myself by taking mostly all honors classes, and I’m especially interested in athletic training and sports medicine. I also stay consistent in the weight room to keep improving my strength and performance on the court.

As a player, I’d describe myself in three words: teammate, leader, and compassionate. I always strive to bring energy, support, and a team-first mentality to every game I play. Whether it’s pushing through a tough match or encouraging others to rise to their potential, I’m someone who leads by example and plays with heart.

I’m looking forward to continuing to grow as a student-athlete at the next level and contributing to a college volleyball program that values teamwork, discipline, and passion.
