Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Sophia Gerald. I’m currently a student at James Wood High School. I’ve been playing ball since I was four, starting with t-ball. Since the sixth grade, I’ve been a dual sport athlete, playing volleyball as my secondary sport. I’m very goal-driven; my main goal is to play softball at the collegiate level while earning my degree in Nursing. Currently, I’m on track to receive an advanced diploma. If I had to describe myself in three words, it would be coachable, friendly, and trustworthy. When I’m not out on a field playing/practicing, you can find me helping my younger sister’s softball team and giving younger girls batting and pitching lessons. I appreciate all the opportunities that my parents and coaches have given me. I’m grateful to them for driving me to practices, cheering me on at every game, and ensuring I have all the necessary equipment. Softball and family mean everything to me; without that, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
