Personal Statement
I am Owen Neill and I am a Sophomore at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California where I am a member of the Varsity Football Team and an active member on ASB. My position is Left Guard and I have started to train as a Center during this spring off-season. Although I was not a Varsity starter this year, I was excited to come in when needed to help out my team. I developed so much during the season by being part of the scout team and preparing our defense on a weekly basis to compete against some of the top schools in the country. Winning the National Championship as a sophomore has been the highlight of my sports career so far and I’m looking forward to what my teammates and I can do over the next 2 years! That experience helped me grow, not only as a football player, but as a young man who values the importance of dedication, sacrifice and teamwork. My IQ on the field, my quickness off the ball and my ability to stay low are all qualities that I’m confident could positively contribute to your offensive line.
I am determined to excel on and off the field. In addition to my passion for football, I am also very academically driven. I understand the importance of balancing athletics with my school work and I am committed to maintaining a strong GPA while pursuing my career goals. My attention and focus over the next couple of years will be to continue to work hard on my academics, train as hard as I can to get stronger, make some college visits and attend as many camps as I can. I know I have what it takes to work at the collegiate level. I am great with time management, I’m very coachable and I’m a great teammate. I know I can make a positive impact on any college program.
