Personal Statement
My passion for sports, especially football, started when I played on my first flag football team at the age of 6. From that day forward, sports became a huge part of my life and helped develop me into the strong person I am today. As a dual sport high school athlete in football and track, I understand that it is a privilege to be able to participate and compete. The drive I have to be the best player and person I can possibly be is unmatched. I have overcome obstacles from injury recovery, and had to learn to focus on what was in my control. Working on my mental mindset was a big challenge but had the greatest pay off in the end.
I love competing on and off the field, whether I am completing extra credit assignments for class, memorizing play books, or putting in extra hours training at the gym. On the field, I am versatile with positions and can play both sides of the ball. I pride myself in being coachable, athletic, aggressive, dependable and a team leader. Not only do I like training, I relish in studying the game and all of its moving parts. Some lessons I have learned from playing these sports are that to get better, you have to work for it. I also have learned that in all of the hard work and seriousness, sports are meant for you to have fun.
Off the field, I take pride in my academics, community service and being a good role model for the younger generations. My high school academic goal is to strive to maintain a 4.0 GPA or higher while taking all honors and AP classes. My freshman year I was selected to be a part of our high school Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT), which focuses on the development of leadership skills throughout the school district and into the community. Additionally, I serve as a peer tutor for special needs students and had the privilege to coach a youth flag football team at my local YMCA this summer.
My future dream is to play sports at the collegiate level and study in the field of sports medicine, weather sciences, engineering or mathematics. Although I am not completely certain of my future field of study, I am looking forward to improving myself mentally, physically, building strong lifelong relationships and becoming a contributing leader of society.
