Personal Statement
My teacher assigned me Roberto Clemente for my National Hispanic Heritage Month project. I was in second grade and played baseball for a couple years. Clemente was how I wanted to be when I grew up. I loved how he used his baseball success as a platform to help other people. He was strong and athletic, but much more than that, he was a brave, smart, and kind leader.
I strive to be a good person like Clemente, and I wear his number 21 to remind me to keep trying. I put a lot of effort in the classroom, weight room, and on the field. I also like to volunteer at animal shelters and perform community service projects with my Boy Scout Troop such as providing care and food packages to people who need them. I am respectful and keep the peace in the dugout with jokes if things get tense between my teammates. I am also honest. My profile metrics are what you would get right now from me.
I also appreciate the privilege of playing high school baseball. I went four months without baseball my sophomore year because of a herniated disc, which taught me how much I am going to miss playing baseball whenever my baseball journey ends. I enjoy playing as much as possible and working hard to get better because I had to work hard to recover from that injury.
I have changed a lot since second grade. I am bigger, stronger, throw harder, and hit further. I also am that same second grade kid who loved Clemente and baseball. I am looking for a school, team, and coaching staff that can help me to continue to better myself in the classroom, on the field, and in life. I believe these characteristics and my life experiences would make me a valuable member of your team and hope that you will consider me.
