My name is Makenna ‘Roye’ Kuecks. I love soccer… I love science, especially biology and chemistry... I love animals… and I love art.
I started playing soccer when I was invited to help a friend field a team at 5 years old. I found a love of a sport that has helped me grow into the enthusiastic, independent, competitive, and self-motivated person I am. I thirst for knowledge both about soccer and the world around me. At 8 I was invited to play with a U11 team. The challenge to play up required me to improve my skills, react faster, and toughen up. I strive to be the best at anything I decide to tackle.
I have had the opportunity to participate in many camps in Colorado and Idaho that have helped me develop foot skills, a better touch, faster response time, and moves that improved my level of play. Always looking for a challenge, I often guest play for other and sometimes older teams. I have participated in many sessions of Idaho ODP and participated in the Region IV ODP camp for 2017 in Fort Collins, CO.
My last coach was one of the people that influenced me the most. Throughout the seasons I played for him, he taught me the importance of staying positive, believing in myself, and never giving up. As a result, on the field, I am a vocal leader, encouraging and positive, while also motivating teammates to succeed. I am very coachable and immediately work to incorporate advice and instruction into my play. I am a unique and thoughtful player - pulling my academic nature into analyzing play and formations on the pitch. I currently carry a 4.0+ at Timberline High School in Boise, Idaho where I will graduate in 2019. I will have many AP classes, and concurrent credits when I graduate. This past year I have continued to grow on the field while developing other aspects of myself. My self-confidence on the field has helped me be confident among my friends, confident with my classes, and confident in my art. I was recently invited to a pottery camp typically reserved for upperclassman. At the end of the camp, I was invited to become a teaching assistant or studio technician.
I hope to study biochemistry and find an active career in medicine or veterinary science. On the field and in life, I am tenacious. I am technical, I am tough, I don’t give up, and I will succeed. I find that I work harder, longer, and smarter and that is what defines me. Hope to see you on the fields soon!
