Personal Statement

I have been playing hockey since the age of 7. The very first time I stepped on the ice, I fell in love with the game and still feel that same excitement to this day. Since then I have been apart of multiple provincial championship teams and also teams that have not done as well. Playing hockey has helped me grow as a person and has taught me various life lessons that have helped me work hard to become an effective winger ready to play at the college level.

My eight years of hockey have been played in a variety of different environments, winning a provincial championship one season to not even making the playoffs the next. Although, no matter our record the attributes and lessons have stayed the same. Nothing will be achieved without sacrifice, teamwork, leadership, accountability, commitment and above all, good old hard work. Although, being apart of the teams that have not done as well has taught me the importance of overcoming adversity, and perseverance. Although I work hard for hockey, I also work hard to be successful academically and be a model student in the classroom. This is why I am looking for a program that is a good fit both athletically and academically. I believe I not only have the skills to play at the college level, but I also have the determination, character, work-ethic and leadership abilities to make a positive impact on your program. I know I have what it takes to be an asset to your team.
