Personal Statement
I'd like to attend a university/college that has a reputation for high educational standards, that takes pride in its student body, and a competitive womens hockey team. Academics is just as important to me as playing hockey as a good education will provide me with many opportunities throughout my life.
I always try my best at whatever task is before me. With school, I am an honor roll student with a grade point average of 3.6/4.0 (Grade 9). This is a result of my dedication and strong work ethic that helps me attain these results. I don't have a direct career choice in mind, but love sciences, math and sports. A career that can combine these three favourites is something I am researching.
I bring the same conscientious work ethic to my hockey development and career. This means not only playing to 100% of my ability every game, but to every practice and extra goalie training I attend. This effort has rewarded me with many gold medal tournament wins, my favourite being the U14 World Selects tournament champions in 2014 in Helsinki Finland.
I am a quiet leader that motivates my teammates through my "never give up" attitude. I was named assistant captain for my team last year because of my leadership qualities, positive attitude and hard working personality. I was the first goalie ever in the history of my club to be named a captain, let alone being a girl on a boys team. My goaltending style is to make the first save and prevent any rebounds, which may not be flashy but it prevents many unwanted scrambles and unnecessary havoc in front of my net.
If there is a university or college that can offer a great education with a hockey program that matches my love and passion for the game, I would like to discuss further with you.
