Personal Statement

Hello Coaches,

My name is Sophie LaCroix, I’m a 2026 Forward, and I want to thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me and my soccer journey from a small town in Louisiana!

Like most girls, I started playing co-ed soccer at 5 for my Dad. I went from co-ed to recreational to Academy to competitive to ECNL-RL where I currently play, and as I grew older, so did my love for the game!

On the field, over the years I have been blessed to play on some great teams with some very talented players and for some amazing coaches! I have been fortunate to be a two time All-State selection, three time 1st team All-District Selection, Conference Offensive MVP, multiple Louisiana Soccer Association and Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association best XI selections, several college ID camp All-Star team selections and have scored a combined 179 goals in my career, but I realize that is only possible because of my teammates and coaches putting me in great situations.

One of my proudest accomplishments, athletically, is that I picked up playing tennis my sophomore year in high school for the first time ever. It took a lot of dedication, hard work and practice trying to learn a new sport, but I earned a varsity letter my sophomore year and received the Newcomer of the Year award. Additionally, my doubles partner and I have earned the opportunity to compete in the state regionals tournament each of the last two years.

Off the field, I’m so very grateful to have parents and family that have supported me so much from the beginning. The combination of all those things has brought me experiences, friendships and memories I will always cherish. That competitive environment and strong support structure has also helped shape the person I am today.

As I enter my senior year and come to a crossroads in my soccer journey, I would love to continue my passion for soccer at the collegiate level and would like to attend a college that can challenge me both athletically and academically. At this moment, I am currently interested in the medical or business fields. I feel like either of these majors will challenge me, help others in the community, and increase my relationships with my peers.
