Personal Statement

Hello Coaches! My name is Ian Sims, I'm a junior at ETHS in Illinois. I've been playing football for 8 years and was moved to Varsity in my sophomore year. I'm a starter for both the offensive and defensive line. My current positions are defensive tackle and guard, however I am open to opportunities to play other positions. I'm a dual athlete with the other sport being wrestling of which I placed fourth in state for the 2024 year. My goal is to join a team that has strong player development; so that as I become better I will add value to the team. I appreciate and seek feedback to become the best in my craft and correct any weak spots. 

Academically I'm solid but still pushing to be at the top my class. I currently have a mix of classes that range from AP Pre-calculus, Forensics and ASL. 

I'm easy going and seem to be well liked by my team and and coaches. There are 1000's of athletes competing for the same positions but I'm hopeful what will set me apart is my adaptability, authenticity, coachability and drive to excel and make myself and my team better. I look forward to learning more about different colleges and football programs.
