Personal Statement

My love for competitive sports started in martial arts when I was 5 years old.  I was awarded a First Dan Black Belt at the age of 11.  During my time there I learned Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Self confidence, and Responsibility and I don't know where I would be without that being taught to me at a young age. But then I discovered "The Game," and by that I mean Football!  When I was in the 7th grade I  tried out for football with no knowledge of the game, just with the thought, "how will I compete with these guys?"  With the hope of God and my  athletic ability I felt I would do my best and see where it took me. I felt much gratitude and accomplishment that I made the "A" team.  The coaches saw something in me without knowing every aspect of the game.  I will forever feel grateful for given the opportunity to know and love the game.   I went on to win an Athletics award that same year, this gave me the confidence to continue my love for football.

In my first year of football I was told I was on fire, I enjoyed  getting the story from everyone in the stands.  Although where there are highs, there are also lows, in my last game in my first season of  football I was injured.  I had fractured my ankle, going through physical therapy and working on the muscles again  it really taught me to keep pushing even when I had doubts on myself and the sport I love.  After all the wait and work building my ankle back at 100 % I was filled with excitement to play again the following year. Something that I will never be able to repay is what football has done for me as a person, I hold myself to very high expectations and I am glad to have coaches that think I obtain  the qualities of a hardworking player.
