Personal Statement
Born and raised in the DMV area, I have always been a smart and athletic kid my whole life. I didn't grow up from the roughest neighborhood, but I did grow up with a lot of distractions. I've had to learn to know my worth, and focus my energy to what I aspire to be. I am in the Class of 2024, and have been seriously training for basketball since the 8th grade. After my 9th grade season was shortened due to the Corona virus, I transferred to Oak Hill Academy to chase my professional basketball dreams. Transferring schools helped me grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. I now play better competition and I am able to strive and grow at a higher level. Personally, my goal as a player is to play college basketball and play professionally afterwards. With my high energy, communication, and leadership skills, I can make a positive impact in whatever team I am on. My character can help the team stay calm and together through the roughest moments throughout the season. Every day I push myself to be better than the player I was the day before, which helps me grow and improve myself at a high rate. This paid off after my sophomore year where I was awarded "Most Improved Player" on the Oak Hill Varsity team. I received recognition for my willingness to do whatever it takes, on and off the court, to help my team win and get better. Whether it is 5 or 6 AM workouts, eating the right foods, going to bed early, or building good relationships with teammates, I am willing to get it done. I have a 3.9 GPA , and plan to major in psychology when I go to college. Outside of basketball, I love to listen to music, write, and learn about self improvement. My goal as a person is to give back to my family and those who helped me reach my full potential. I dream of inspiring other people to become the best version of themselves as well.
