Personal Statement
When I was in second grade I wanted to do tackle football but my school only offered tackle football for third grade and up. So I convinced my parents to find a tackle football program. Once they found one and after my persuasion, they drove me from Holland to Grand Haven every day for 2 hours just to do tackle football. Soon after I started tackle football I started to love how physically demanding the sport of football was. It forced me to become better and better. As the season went on I realized how much of a burning passion and love I have to hit and how much physicality incorporated the sport was. With this burning passion and love for wanting to hit, I always told myself "I want to hit instead of making touchdowns ". I still tell myself that today every time I do anything with football. As my second grade football season came to an end I realized that I have a deep passion and desire to be successful at this sport and to do whatever it takes and to sacrifice whatever it takes to make my dream of becoming an NFL player a reality. What makes me different from other recruits? Academically speaking I love school when the subjects I'm learning apply to my interests and my goals in life. For example, I love math and the process of understanding why you do something and what those numbers or equations represent. So I plan on graduating college and majoring in Actuarial Science and minoring in statistics or economics, to then become an Actuary. Athletically speaking, what makes me different from other recruits and what makes me a good candidate for your team? I have an amazing work ethic. If I truly put my mind to anything whether that's getting my grades up or getting stronger or getting faster I will do it no matter. Once my mind is set to doing something there is no changing. Another trait that separates me from other recruits is how coachable I am. I know how to take constructive criticisms and take what I need and what applies to me and seriously work on my flaws that need to be improved. One of my greatest strengths is being a team player. I've played football for a long time and I know how to be a team player. I know I'm great at that. My flaw is that I just tend to want to work alone and do things by myself because yourself is the only person you can truly trust. I realized this flaw a long time ago and have been better but I'm not truly free of this flaw quite yet. So in the end I will do whatever it takes to make my goals a reality.
