Personal Statement
My name is Colin Jones and I am a Junior at Rogers High School in Rogers, AR. I started playing football in the 8th Grade. Since my start, I have spent the past 3 years in the defensive tackle position. At the end of my Sophomore Year (2021-2022), I was asked by my Head Coach to move to the Offensive Tackle position, Right Tackle. I spent all summer learning and working hard and earned a starting position. I am working at getting bigger and stronger. I focus on my sleep, diet and the past two years, I train at The Edge and work on my strength and conditioning. Currently, I weigh 240 lbs. and my goal is to get to 260 lbs. by the summer.
I have a 3.5 GPA and was recently inducted in the National Honor Society. I am a member of the Rogers Link Crew which is a group of Juniors and Seniors that provide leadership and guidance to incoming Freshman to help them navigate through High School. In my spare time, I look for community service activities and help the younger football players in the Rogers football program. Also, I am on the Track and Field team and throw the shot put. My goal this year is to get to 45 ft. for the indoor and 50 ft. for the outdoor competition. Currently, I throw 42 ft. indoor and 45 ft. outdoor.
My college goal is to play on the next level at any level. I have spent the past two years researching schools across the country from D1 to NAIA. It is just as important for me to find a campus and college town that I can call home. I am looking at majoring in Education or Athletic Training. I am an only child, so I am looking for a program with a strong brotherhood, close knit family and tradition. I am looking for a program and coaching staff that is going to make me better. The goal of making it into a college program is to be able to practice and gain the confidence of my coaching staff to put me in.
My coaches would describe me as a hard worker, coachable and a team player. I have a high work ethic and strive to be the best every day. I am always helping my teammates, coaches and teachers. I know I can bring the same qualities to the right program. I differ from other recruits as I maintain my grades, volunteer and look to be a better athlete every day. My mom is my hero and she plays a huge part in my life. She has raised me by herself and has worked hard to give me the tools to be successful. I get my work ethic, attitude and volunteerism from her. She has had me take on service projects in the community as early as elementary school, encourages me to be involved in school, cheer on classmates and work hard in my classes. Those lessons set me apart from other recruits to be the best teammate I am today.
I love football and being apart of a team and look forward to my senior year. I am excited to find that school and program to call home.
