Personal Statement
My name is Sarah Walker and I dream of playing college softball. That is something I will keep working hard to do. I know I’m not there yet and look for ways to improve and grow however I can. I’m a coachable person; always willing to learn from my instructors. I’ve been playing softball since I was 5 years old and pitching since I was 7. We travel 4 hours to Roanoke, VA to work with my pitching instructor, Denny Tincher on a regular basis. Also, every week we travel to Sevierville, Tennessee for hitting lessons with Marc Weekly. You will find that I show up early and prepared for anything I do. You will see that I am very hard working, and I have a good attitude.
I live with my parents in Mills River, NC. I attend West Henderson High School in Hendersonville, NC and will graduate 2025. I’m currently 5’8” and 160 lbs. I’m a right-handed pitcher and play first base and third base for my travel team,
Knockouts Elite 16U - Cole. I have a quick glove and throw in the low 60s from the mound. My ball has movement and speed. I throw a change-up, screwball and curve ball, and rise ball. I also have a strong bat and I am known as a power hitter on my team.My time is spent on homework, working out, and practicing softball. I work pitching, hitting, fielding and throwing on a regular schedule. My workouts are daily; pitching four days per week, pitching drills everyday, and hitting every day. I do strength and agility training every day. Fielding and throwing work is also part of every afternoon. I set goals and work hard to achieve them, and then move forward to new goals.
My work ethic is very important to me and I not only apply it with softball, but with my academics as well. I’m proud of my A-Honor Roll status at school and work very hard to keep my grades in all my classes in the mid to upper 90s. I took Earth and Environmental Science Honors, Pre-AP English 2 Honors and AP World History last semester. This semester I am taking Principles of Business and Finance, Health and P.E, Ap World History Honors, and Math 2 Honors, I also enjoy being in the Orchestra class playing the viola and earning first chair last semester. I took the 8/9 PSAT in 6th grade and earned a score of 800.
Thank you for reading a little about me, and I look forward to hearing from you. I appreciate your consideration as a player in your program. If you have any advice for me in order to realize my goal of playing top level college softball, I would appreciate hearing that as well.
