Personal Statement
I’m Frank Perez, better known by my peers and teammates as “Franky”. I’m a 2024 varsity athlete with my primary position in the MLB/OLB positions for Flowery Branch High School. I have a keen eye for reading the offense & leading the defense with speed and powerful physicality. I remain 100% coachable & moldeable to my coaches’ needs to execute any assignment given to me. I learn from my mistakes and work hard to get and stay ahead of the game & my competitors.
I started playing football when I was 9 years old because I wanted to be like Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons. I started in a position as the skinniest offensive and defensive lineman to ever play. I knew I did not want to be in that position the rest of my football career so I worked hard by watching YouTube videos, working on footwork, and sprinting. By Middle School I was a starting outside linebacker, running back, and fullback.
Freshman year in High School was a hard lesson learned. I came into high school thinking I was going to be the star starter I was in Middle School, but boy was I wrong. Freshman year was a huge slice of humble pie for me as I stood on the sidelines and watched the starters play. I learned from everyone’s mistakes as I would watch and listen to them get scolded by the coaches, l took hits on the scout team, and learned to hit like the big guys; but nonetheless, I felt invisible to the coaches. To be seen I knew I had to work harder than I have ever worked! All Freshman year and Sophomore summer I worked hard to get stronger, better in technique, and I memorized the plays to earn that starting position my sophomore year. I learned that in football & in life nothing comes easy nor is anything handed to you — you’ve got to work hard and earn it.
While my passion is football, during the off season I also wrestle and run track. I aspire to become a successful computer engineer one day. While I’m not sure of what profession I will dominate in that field, as of now I am geared towards software engineering and web development.
