Personal Statement
I am a scholar athlete and a driven and committed basketball player. I have strong basketball IQ, great court vision, and I consistently create plays for my teammates. I remain calm under pressure and I always show respect both on and off the court.
I pride myself on being a coachable athlete who is a great team player and always working to improve myself to be better. I'm the first one to get to practice and the last to leave. I understand the time, hard work, and effort it takes to succeed as a competitive basketball player, and I am dedicated to reach my goal of playing basketball at the college level. As a Honor Roll student every semester of high school, I take academics very seriously and work hard for my high grades. Succeeding in both basketball and academics is my priority.
Basketball means everything to me, and there is nowhere I would rather be than on a basketball court. When I was 6 years old, my parents installed a basketball hoop on our driveway, and it changed my life. When I'm not at team practices, games, or studying, I'm outside shooting on that hoop, no matter the weather, temperature, or time of day.
I've played on AAU teams for 8 years, and I attend elite basketball camps every summer, including Hoop Group Academic Elite, Hoop Mountain, and Point Guard College where I learned the acronym: SCHAPE "Spirit, Communication, Hustle, Attitude, Precision, and Enhance". I try to live by these important values as competitor, and also by contributing and giving energy to my team and making sure they can count on me.
