Personal Statement
Hi! I'm Dylan Bird. Thank you for reviewing my profile. please let me share with you a little bit about me, what I did growing up in the exciting towns that I have and who I am. I’m a 4.0 student, an accomplished all mountain freestyle skier - I started to ski at age 3. I grew up in the shadow of the Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks in the mountain town of Jackson Hole, WY. I could ski the entire mountain by age 5, mountain bike it too. fished the Snake River as a small boy with my Father. I soon feel in love with football and later played flag football in Denver and went to my first NFL games at Bronco Stadium. I played Soccer for the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer, my Father coached the team, a wonderful memory. Winters in Colorado were enjoyed at Beaver Creek and Vail Ski Resorts and on the BEAVO Ski Team. .We moved to Park City, UT at age 9. I skied on the Wasatch Freestyle Ski Team in Deer Valley for 5 years. It was in Park City that I began to play baseball on a traveling team and in Summer 2019 I joined my team in playing at Cooperstown, NY. I‘m proud to be a Black Belt, I trained for 10 years to gain my Black belt in Wado Karate, great times in Dojo's in WY, CO and UT. My Sensei trained National and Olympic Champions, he is a great mentor to me still to this day. I play in a band and play clarinet and am a saxophone player too whom can read and compose music. When I can I go to CrossFit to get in some training to work on my strength with my father and Coach Jon Pera. I love and am thankful for my parents hard work and support to have gotten me where I am today, they are my best friends and their support is eternal. Thanks to their careers I have been blessed to live in CA, WY, CO, and Utah where for many years I lived and enjoyed the mountain lifestyle and the great outdoors, I loved moving and being in new towns, adapting to change became easy for me. I have always been on a team, in a band or part of a concerted team effort where my fellow teams mates and I relied on each other for guidance, support, morale, encouragement and to be safe. Football, Baseball, Ski, Soccer, Karate, Band, always a team, I love being a part of a team. I believe in loving what you do and you'll never work a day in your life- "Steve Jobs" . To have fun, to win, to encourage and to inspire each other. When we lose, from a loss, comes the opportunity to grow, to learn and to do better next time, the next win will only be sweeter.
I aspire to be the hardest working athlete, a trustworthy and loyal team player, I pride my self on doing my best always and being loyal and having integrity and I will be a play maker on your team that will get results. Please consider my application and thank you for your time and consideration. Dylan Bird
