Personal Statement
When I get on that line, everything else fades away. My leg starts pumping and a switch is flipped. I only have one goal. Get to the ball and take out anyone who is in my path. I am a fierce, feisty, physical, and hard-hitting freight train.
I do not remember a time in my life that I did not love sports. One of my earliest memories is crying inconsolably when I was told I could not play with the high schoolers on the football practice field next to the playground. Since then, I have played team baseball, football, and basketball every year. My parents have given me every opportunity to pay, to train and to excel. Of all the sports I participated in, football is my obsession because I am physical and hard-hitting. I train hard in season and off season and stay clear of anything that would hinder me from being a valuable member of the team. Over the years, with the help and advice from some amazing coaches and lots of practice, I continue to refine my game and
teamwork skills. From youth football on, coaches have described me as versatile and talented as well as extremely driven and coachable.
Attending school from kindergarten through eighth grade in a (hopefully the last) racially intolerant districts presented obstacles that I had to be tough and resilient to overcome.
I am currently a Junior at North Catholic High School and a starter on the varsity team. I play defensive end, tight end, full back and kicker. Our team was undefeated this season and I am looking forward to helping the Trojans toward playoff victories for the next two seasons.
Academically, I strive to maintain good grades in all my subjects. As I look toward the future, I want to, of course, play football and baseball in college. I am still undecided whether to work toward a career as an athletic trainer or gym teacher and coach.
