Personal Statement

My name is Aiden Gilmore, and I am a passionate and committed student-athlete at Wilkes-Barre Area High School in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Football has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. Through the sport, I’ve gained invaluable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and resilience—qualities that I carry with me both on and off the field. Even though I’m just a freshman, I don’t think it’s too early to start working hard and preparing to play at the college level, where I can be part of a strong football program while also focusing on my education.

As a freshman center starting on the varsity team (a position I have never played before) I have been working hard to develop my skills and push myself to new limits. I’m someone who thrives on hard work, consistently striving to improve every day, and I take pride in my ability to lead by example. This past season I stepped into a role I never thought I would, by playing center on the offensive line, but it has taught me a great deal about myself, that with hard work and dedication I can excel in any area on the field that my team requires. What drives me is not only performing well on game day but also putting in the hours of training, watching film, and staying in the best possible shape year-round.

In the classroom, I prioritize my education just as much as my athletic development. I maintain a strong academic record, balancing my studies with my commitment to football. I am deeply interested in broadcast journalism, and I am determined to excel in both areas. As I consider my options for college, I am looking for a program that will challenge me academically while allowing me to grow as an athlete and a person. I am excited about the possibility of joining a team that values hard work, discipline, and personal growth as much as I do.
