Personal Statement
I, Joseph Rivera, am a one sport athlete with ambition to be an elite collegiate athlete. Football is my all-time favorite sport. I have been playing since 2007 and have strived to be the best at what I do. I am primarily a center but can play guard or tackle with a 300 pound squat and 225 bench at the time. I have been trying to work on my leg power so that I may be more explosive after getting the snap off to ensure that I help my team, especially on inside zone plays, one of my coach’s favorite play types. As a center, I try to take the leadership role and make sure that my O-line is positive and working as hard as possible. I tend to keep a positive nature and give the vibe off to others with my outstanding spirit and love for the game.
I try my best to translate the hard work on the field, into the classroom. I am continuously trying to raise my GPA. Although I’m not taking AP classes, I still think I’m very intelligent and take pride in what I do. I would love to go DI but I feel that DII would be the best fit for me as an athlete and for my academics. The size of the school or classroom does not matter to me, I tend to sit at the front of the classroom to get the best view and so that I don’t have any distractions in front of me, deterring me from knowing what I need to know.
I am looking for something close to home or at least neighboring states texas and a place at which I can make an impact to the team and the program. I am very easy to work with and will take responsibility for my actions or tasks. I’m very versatile, coachable and confident in what I do. I believe I am a very hardworking individual with reachable goals to work towards.
