Personal Statement

My name is Xavier Blake and I am a 5’8” 165 lb., football player. I am currently a sophomore in high school and have been blessed to excel in numerous sports (football, basketball, weightlifting and track). However, I am most passionate about playing football. I started playing football at the age of six years old and even as a little boy, I daydreamed of becoming the greatest football player of all time. Due to my strong work ethic, speed, versatility and ability to play different positions, I feel I am closer to my dream than ever. For example, this year I was moved up to varsity and managed to show off my abilities.

I have applied everyday skills that I have learned in football to my life and academic studies. Football has taught me how to communicate better in the classroom and in group settings. I take pride in my schoolwork and have maintained above a 3.7 GPA since grade school and received numerous academic awards and achievements for my hard work. Playing football has taught me that if I work hard on and off the field, I can achieve anything in life I set out to accomplish. This was shown when I was honored with the junior varsity offensive MVP at my high school my freshman year. I was also chosen to represent my school two years ago at IMG academy for my outstanding performance in track and field activities.

I would like to attend a college and obtain my degree, as well as contribute to the football program. I just ask for an opportunity to show my determination, dedication and skills. I am a very hard worker on the field and in the classroom.
