Personal Statement
My name is Joaquin Johnson, I am a 16 year old, 6', 175 pound Wide/Slot Receiver at Saint Bonaventure High School in Ventura, California. Through Football, I have learned lessons of loyalty, brotherhood, persistence and above all, the importance of character. These are all attributes I strive to apply to my daily life, and use to better myself not only as a football player, but as a young man. I have participated in competitive football since the age of 6. I strongly believe that my tenacity, work ethic, and leadership skills make me a valuable unit to any team I am part of.
As a freshman team, we finished 9-0 in the Marmonte League, one of the toughest leagues in California. As a JV team, we finished 7-2 making my freshman year record 16-2. On both JV and freshman, I led the team in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. I was awarded Offensive Player of the Year on the JV level. After my season, I was selected to play for the U.S. National Team in Arlington, Texas. In Texas I got the chance to compete and play with the best in the entire Country. From that game, I was selected to play in the International Bowl against Panama in the Cowboy’s very own AT&T Stadium. I was also invited to the NextGen Camp, Rivals camp, FBU camp, and as a participant in the UA All American underclassmen combine.
My athletic accomplishments for my Sophomore and Junior years include JT Rogers Offensive Rookie Award Winner, Receiver First Team All-League Marmonte League, and All-County Honors. Sophomore year, we finished 4-1 (Covid) Division 4. Junior year we finished 9-0 and played in the Division 2 bracket among some of the best teams in the Country. First round, we played a team of over 30 D1 offers, I’m not scared of any competition. We earned the title of Marmonte League Champs. I also run Track, recently obtaining 1st place in Boys 4 x 100 setting a county record with my participation as anchor, right now we hold the fastest time in our county.
I aspire to play college football with full commitment and conviction that in entails. I am confident I have ability to thrive as a Student Athlete by continuously challenging myself. My main goal is to earn my Major in Business. Academically, I have maintained a 3.0 or higher GPA for the last 4 years, while attending Honors, College Prep and Advanced Placement classes. I have also attained my Leadership Certificate. Thank you for taking this time to read my personal statement. Looking forward to many victories on and off the field!
