Personal Statement
As a young kid, I would sit on the couch with my dad on Saturdays and scream at the television while we watched college football. My dad grew up in a football town and played a little college ball too. He always told me how he wasn't the best, but wished he had someone to teach him how to be the best him possible. I never forgot those talks and as a young kid beginning to play little league football I always had him there teaching me. My dad tough me the value of hard work and he always focused on the small details that would help to give me good technique, even if I was tired or worn down from a tough game. Over the years I grew to love everything about football even more. I have an older brother that my dad spent just as much time working with in basketball and he went on to accept a D-I offer. We both had dreams of graduating from college while playing our favorite sports. My brother just graduated early from LIU-Brooklyn and is now working on his masters degree.
I want to study engineering or to become a dentist as I compete on the grid iron. Both my dad and 5 years older brother have shown me the way and are helping to motivate me more. I didn't always understand the importance of everything I was learning a few years ago but it all makes so much more sense now. I am more focused on achieving my goals now as I get older. Both of my parents have college degrees and my mom has several. I come from a loving home that values education greatly. I have a very supportive family and a father that has always done the right things to teach his three sons how to be the best at being us we can be. I'm not a risky student. I don't hang out with the wrong crowds, don't drink or smoke. I just want to make my family proud as I do what my dad said would be the greatest thing I could do in life for me. Enjoy my college years as I get the education needed to be able to provide for a family of my own someday.
Much like my dad and older brother, I will not be finished growing until after 20. My brother is 6'4" now. My doctor has always ranked me in the 90-95% all my life and said I should tap out somewhere between 6'6"-6'8". Whichever school decides to take a chance on me is going to get more than they know on the field and in the classroom.
