Personal Statement
It has been a goal of mine to play college basketball since I can remember, and everything I do brings me closer to making my goal a reality. I was the only freshman on the varsity team, and I had five seniors on my team who all were committed to play at different colleges. I was lucky to be able to watch them practice, which showed me that to be in a winning culture you must do whatever it takes to win. It was amazing to be able to start my high school experience with these types of teammates.
As a sophomore, I was the starting shooting guard. In the few games I was able to play I led my team in a most major stat categories, but in my second game, I was injured and sustained a stress fracture in my back. I continued to play through the pain, until my third game of the season when I was forced to stop. Seeing my team lose games and not being able to help, while sitting on the sidelines, is a type of pain I don’t ever want to feel again. Since being able to come back to basketball I have been working relentlessly to never feel that again. I've been training harder than I ever have before, doing strength training five days a week on top of my regular basketball training schedule. I pride myself as being a hard worker, that uses all my skills to help my team win.
