Personal Statement
It has always been my dream to play college football. Beginning in the 6th grade I began working with my QB Coach Ben Neill of QB Country-Birmingham, AL. I wanted to ensure my mechanics were correct to allow me to develop properly as a QB.
I attended Patrician Academy until the 2nd semester of my sophomore year where I quarterbacked my 6th grade team, my 8th grade team and my 9th grade teams to Regional Championships (the highest level). In 9th grade, I also started as OLB for the varsity team and recorded the game saving interception that allowed my team to win the AISA 1-A state championship. Realizing that the Wing-T offense would never highlight my QB skills, I made the very difficult decision to leave a school that I had attended since K4 and transfer to Lamar School. Lamar is a 5A school in Meridian, MS that features a spread offense. There was no guarantee of a starting position when transferring, but I worked my butt off to learn an offense and win the starting QB job.
Every day I leave for school at 6:45 a.m., driving 45 miles to school and I am lucky if I get home before 7 p.m. The academics at Lamar are much more difficult than my previous school so many times I am studying late into the night. I have maintained high enough grades to be in the National Beta Club and my junior year I will earn 6 hours of college credit in Spanish through dual enrollment. I intend to take College Algebra and Trigonometry and College Physical Science I & II my senior year so I should have 18 hours of college credit upon high school graduation.
I also play basketball where I am a starter at guard. I have always played baseball but this year I gave it up to concentrate on getting better for my senior year of football.
In addition to sports, I am active in my local church youth group, I umpire youth baseball games in my community and I volunteer at F.A.I.T.H. Groceries, our local food bank. Prior to transferring to Lamar, I was very involved with my school's Student Government Association but my commute makes it difficult to participate in many extra curricular activities besides sports.
I won't let anyone outwork me. During the summer of 2019 even though I lived farther than any other football player from Lamar, I recorded the most summer workouts of any varsity football player attending both morning and afternoon workouts. I wanted to demonstrate to my teammates that I was a leader and I felt I could show that best by my work ethic.
