Personal Statement
First and for most, my main goal is to get my education paid for, so I can help out my family. I’ve always wanted to be helpful towards getting stuff paid for, that is why being a student athlete is so important to me because if I have my grades up and can perform on the football field, being able to help my family pay for college will be in sight. My grades have always come first to me, for the fact that without keeping my grades up there will be no playing time in High School nor at the College level. Being an athlete isn’t just showing out on Friday nights, to me being an athlete is being a top 5% student in the classroom, being a gentleman off the field, helping out at home, and lastly being able to perform to the best of my ability for my team. Working hard is what I think separates me from the rest. Always going that extra mile in every drill, rep, and play is what makes me who I am as a person and a player. I believe that if I put in the work today, tomorrow I will be able to accomplish what others can’t, and it’s true because I’ll always be one step ahead from the guy lined up across from me. I don’t want to be an ordinary player when I’m on that field, I want to be extraordinary in a way that people know my name after I walk off that field, that’s why I always give that little extra because that’s the difference between being ordinary or extraordinary. Being a coachable player is one trait I believe I hold. Always taking tips from the coaches and inserting them into my game has helped in many ways, including my Freshman year of High School. Being able to listen and interpret what I learn into my playing style is something I believe will take me a long way in my football career. Ever since I’ve stepped on the football field when I was 5 years old to now, I’ve made many sacrifices to better myself in my skills and knowledge for the game...and that’s why I believe that there is a difference between being a football player and living a football lifestyle, and to live that lifestyle sacrifice is required.
